Playing Tourist In Bloomington

playing_tourist_in_bloomington

Welcome to StuartCo’s “Playing Tourist” series, where we’ll be exploring different communities within the Twin Cities, and reporting back with recommendations for dining, shopping, and entertainment. Be sure to check out all of our stops here!

The fourth largest city in Minnesota, Bloomington is located just 10 miles south of Minneapolis—and is packed with activities for tourists and residents alike!

Genesee Apartments and Townhomes is StuartCo’s urban rental community located in the heart of the Penn American District in Bloomington, with walkable conveniences everywhere you look. We reached out to Leasing Coordinator Adam Maass to get his take on the best of Bloomington, right outside of Genesee’s doors.

LOCAL BITES

freshthyme

Fresh Thyme Farmer’s Market (just across the street from Genesee!) is a natural, organic grocery store with exceptional, on-the-go sushi. Plus, their grab-and-go station is perfect for salads, soup, and sandwiches. The grilled apple & arugula salad with citrus dressing and toasted pecans is amazing!

wallys

Wally’s is a Bloomington institution, and a Genesee favorite. This establishment has been around since 1969 and still keeps serving those delicious roast beef sandwiches in a friendly environment. Mmmmmm, good!

lucky13

Lucky’s 13 Pub has to-die-for cheesy filled tater tots, along with an amazing sunrise burger.

Ciao Bella is great for an evening date, or even a tasty bite over lunch. They have a great selection of food and wine, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re right in Italy. If you’re looking for contemporary Italian cuisine and unparalleled service, this is your place.

LOCAL TREATS

Droolin’ Moose brings a new flavor to chocolate and is always a fun place to visit! An original brand created by a local Bloomington family, the salty bogs are a favorite—who doesn’t like chocolate caramel with sea salts??

Denny’s 5th Avenue Bakery is another locally-owned, Bloomington family business that’s been around since 1969. Nothing can beat a fresh baked donut right off the press, or a delicious cupcake—both are fun treats to share and bring to the office.
